The One Robe Designs Archives

The following Web sites were done within my first year as a web site designer, some are no longer live, and some are obviously quite amateurish but worth a good laugh!

http://www.caseyssteam.8m.com

This site was set up as an online advertisement / Information page. It was written in September 2000 for Jim & Rita Casey (Steam Engine Collectors) in Dover, Tasmania. It was one page, and primarily photos & accompanying text descriptions of the main pieces. The steam engines were all from local timber mills.

They wanted to sell their collection to other steam enthusiasts in the hope of keeping the collection together, ideally in Tasmania. Although there were a few interested parties, the collection never sold.

This site is no longer active.

http://www.onerobe.8m.com

This site was highly experimental. It was written in August 2000 for my own experimentation. It was originally the result of an entry in a Web Page contest. The concept being that it had to be only one page.

Of course I didn't win. It took five minutes to load, and was completely inaccessible to the average user!!!

The project took three months! In the main window a panorama of the south coast of Tasmania scrolled by and finished at South East Cape. It could then be moved backwards and forwards through two links on the right.

At the top was a button which opened up a transparent menu, through which you could open one of four pages which opened in the window. They could be scrolled up and down by clicking two links on the right of the page. On the left were four links which opened up four pages from my old site in a new window.

The site was certainly good fun to write, but ended up highly convoluted!!! It is no longer active.

http://riseleycottage.8m.com

This site was my first commercial venture. It was written in May 2000 for Riseley Cottage - Country Accommodation in Dover, Tasmania.

A lot of their clients commented on how nice the site was. This site is still live.

http://www.cainebarlow.8m.com

Numero Uno. This was my first Web Site. It was written in March 2000 for my own experimentation while I was leaning HTML.

It was the product of working through http://www.davesite.com/webstation/html/, which serves as a really good interactive introduction.

The site is no longer active! It was later incorporated into www.onerobe.8m.com
